The 2005 Conference in ELT at Technical Colleges and Universities
There is a conference about how to teaching English better. Three professor presented their research one by one while we attended the conference in the afternoon. They talked about three parts of English learning teach:
1. The learning strategies
2. The cultural and English learning
3. The test… (I’m so sorry that I couldn’t understand what she is talking about, so I didn’t take notes about what she talked.)
I think attended the conference is good to me; even thought I couldn’t exactly understand every words, and every sentence they used, but it did improved my listening when I’m concentrated in the speech. The contents are good to me, too. I learned something from “English learning strategies”, the professor said that the good learner is mostly use the strategies. About the culture topic, she explained that when students know the more culture, the more reading ability, communication ability, international view, and language ability they have. Then she divided the culture into five parts: cultural cognition, cultural etiquette, cultural difference, cultural values, and cultural analysis. How to promote the culture knowledge? The suggestions are:
1. We can use the festival celebrates to have some activity, let the students can experience the America culture through that activity.
2. Using the internet, it is popular to young people, so they can learn English by internet or about internet more easily. (Umm…I’m not so sure what she exactly means.)
3. The e-mail is good to English communication practicing.
4. It is a perfect way to learn culture by novels.
5. The movie is also the fine way to transmit the culture.

After the conference, I feel my English is so poor that I couldn’t understand what they were talking. (Of course except the professor who used Chinese. ) And it’s the first time I had the chance to attend an official conference, wow, what a fresh experience to me. So thank our professor let us had this chance to learn something in this different way.
 
2005 Conference in ELT at Technical Colleges and Universities
It’s very glad that Dr. Robert E. invites us to attend this English teaching research symposium. Let me understand English's deep meaning of teaching. This field is we had never contact in the past. Through the professors' lecture, let me have different opinions on English study.

The first professor's memoir pointed out that, 1.The students who have better grades can use the strategies to help their English study. From this report let me know, we can use the strategies to improve our study effectiveness. 2. The students have ever live in the foreign country are daring to ask questions and speak English. This is a most barrier for internal student to overcome. Therefore, if we want to learn English well, please don’t be fear to speak English and don’t worry about that you have incorrect grammar. Open your mouth daringly to practice English and study from the mistake is a good topic to promote your English ability.

The second professor has reported the subject of cultural teaching development,1.The students understand the knowledge of cultural can be stronger in reading and increase communication ability and the world outlook. 2. Students can promote cultural study through
out the festival celebrations, on the Internet, writing e-mail, reading the novels and watching the movies.
In the third professor's research discovered that, the students are familiar the test questions can get better grades. Therefore, we can improve our English by uninterrupted practices,

Nowadays, English occupies very important status. In the future, having good English ability can help us getting better working opportunities. Therefore, we can reference above study method to promote our English study.
 
To participate in Education colloquium
I go to National Taiwan University of science and technology On November 7th that day. I with my classmates for learn Present education problems. Now I well introduce the topic Analysis of Cultural Elements for EFL Tests in Taiwan.
The Declaimer is divided into topic three. The following is she to discuss the three greatest discussions point.
1.The topic is analysis the language learning and culture are relate to closely.
2.The cultural teaching of the present but the complement that often become English teaching learn, further evaluate the cultural ability very few.
3.Test the item and the teaching target and content vitally related, so this research aim is analyzing the cultural main factor that the two greatest tests of decade contain.

Connect down is what I learned by attending the talk (speech)
Understand a lot of problems that educate concerning the presents. Just find teachers are to attach our education. It let me so surprised is I have never thought these problems.

Descend immediately after is my feelings about the talk (speech)
I think maybe my age is not enough greatly to bring about I can’t understand the meaning of the topic sometimes. And then I think maybe I should Train listen to English, usually I can’t understand he say what!

Finally, I think we must concentrate learn English to make English not only a language but also become a weapons!
 
2005 Conference In ELT At Technical Colleges And Universities
The conference which has been held in our university recently is about strategies for learning languages , I also attended it during the class time and there were three presenters showed their researches and findings to many scholars who are well versed in languages , two of the presenters showed something about the significant differences among the same English tests held each year in Taiwan , they also mentioned why some high-achieved students could score well on the test and some low-achieved students could not , their explanation for that was these students used different learning strategies when they were trying to understand what the text means , which led to the different results.
The other presenter focused on the relationship between culture and language, which impressed me the most, she indicated we should learn language and culture at the same time, if we only learn how to memorize the vocabulary but have no idea what foreigners think and the culture of various western countries, it will not make any sense for us to learn languages. She also mentioned many experts suggested the students living in non-English-speaking countries can learn languages well by watching foreign movies or reading western literatures, not just to study the textbooks.
After the conference, I thought the way the Taiwanese students used in learning English needs to be improved step by step, besides the grammars and phrases, we should know more about the western culture and how to use the right sentences when we are in conversation with foreigners. The world has been globalized in recent years, so the strategies we use for learning languages is more and more important, I truly believe that if we can find out the correct methods to advance our language ability, we will make more progress with it than before, and then using impeccable English will never be just a dream that seemed to be impossible for us in the past.
